Oracle Sets New World Record With SAP(r) Sales and Distribution (SD) Standard Application Two-Tier Benchmark on PRIMEPOWER

Oracle Database Bests IBM DB2 by Delivering High-Performance and Scalability

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. 29-APR-2005 Oracle today announced a world record SAP(r) Sales and Distribution (SD) Standard Application Benchmark result, outperforming IBM DB2's best result and underscoring Oracle(r) Database's superior enterprise transaction processing power.
Running the SAP SD R/3 Enterprise 4.7 workload, Oracle Database achieved the leading world record performance result of 21,000 SAP SD Benchmark Users, with an average dialog response time of 1.91 seconds, for a two-tier configuration on a Fujitsu Siemens Computers PRIMEPOWER 2500 server with 128 SPARC64 V processors(1). Oracle, the overall world record holder for SAP SD Benchmark at 100,000 SD Benchmark Users(2), delivered nearly twice as much performance as the best result from IBM DB2(3) and nearly four times more performance than the best result from Microsoft SQL Server(4) in a three-tier configuration.

In addition to holding the performance world records for the SAP SD two-tier and three-tier configurations, Oracle is also the performance world record leader for the three-tier Assemble to Order (ATO) Standard Application Benchmark(5), two-tier ATO Standard Application Benchmark(6) and the SAP SD Parallel Standard Application Benchmark(7). It is the preferred database for deployments of SAP solutions, and continues to innovate and maintain its leadership(8).
