Chips March Madness Picks

Chips March Madness Picks

Date 3/13/2002 12:00 AM | Topic: Sports

We here at Chips aren't ones to jump on the bandwagon, but there is a first time for everything, so I am going to give the fans what they want: our professional picks.

Barry Campbell, Editor-in-Chief

Barry thought about his picks for a long time. He used many different techniques, eventually just spinning around in a circle and falling on a team.

His Final Four: Duke, Ohio State, Maryland and Kansas.

Jeff Branstad, Columnist

Jeff named his picks the "Upset Sheet!!" He only has one real big upset, but it is big. According to Jeff, look out for Gonzaga.

His Final Four: Duke, Gonzaga, Maryland and Kansas.

Professor Martin Klammer (Phi Slamma Klamma), Chips Advisor

Klammer is an Oregon fan, so his picks are immediately doomed because to him, they are good. We wish him well, but he doesn't have much of a prayer.

His Final Four: Duke, Oklahoma, Maryland and Oregon.

Erica Lamm, Managing Editor

Erica doesn't know much about basketball. I know that Erica doesn't know much about basketball and after hearing about her picks you, too, will know that she doesn't know much about basketball. She is given credit for picking Maryland, but she only picked them because she is going to graduate school there. Also, Winthrop, yeah, they beat Duke and go to the Elite Eight.

Her Final Four: Maryland, Penn, Hawaii and Pepperdine.

Angie Aaberg, News Editor

Angie is a nice girl, very enjoyable, but her picks worry me. While filling out her bracket she did not seem to know what was going on, but looking at her picks, I am very impressed. Angie, we wish you luck.

Her Final Four: Duke, Cincinnati, Maryland and Kansas.

Those are the Chips staff picks for this week, more to come in the weeks following. After having reviewed this years picks I have come to one conclusion: the Chips staff doesn't know that much about basketball. Ok, nothing at all.
